COLLEGE ROUNDUP
Stanford claims Pac-10 title

UNION-TRIBUNE NEWS SERVICES

February 19, 2005

Candice Wiggins, Susan Borchardt and Azella Perryman scored 14 points apiece, and No. 4 Stanford wrapped up its record-tying fifth consecutive Pac-10 women's basketball championship with an 88-62 victory over USC last night in Los Angeles.

The victory was the 14th in a row for the Cardinal (23-2, 14-1 Pac-10), which hasn't lost since a 62-58 decision at Oregon on Dec. 29, its only conference defeat.

Borchardt, a fifth-year senior who is married to the Utah Jazz's Curtis Borchardt, missed parts of two seasons after twice undergoing surgery on a torn anterior cruciate ligament but has been around to witness all five championships.

No. 12 DePAUL 82, SAINT LOUIS 64: Khara Smith scored 25 points and pulled down 14 rebounds at St. Louis. The Blue Demons women (22-3, 11-1 Conference USA) have won 16 of their last 17 and have tied the school mark for the best record through 25 games.
