Outlook: For the first time since blowing what has become a nationally recognized second-half lead against Nevada-Las Vegas, SDSU returns to the court. Awaiting the Aztecs in Fort Collins is the league's last-place team and loser of eight straight. Aztecs sophomore forward Marcus Slaughter has six double-doubles in his last eight games and has scored in double figures in all 22, the program's longest streak since Mike Mackell's 26-game mark during the 2001-02 and 2002-03 seasons. The Rams have lost three straight at home for the first time since 2002-03, while SDSU is 2-8 in its last 10 conference road games. CSU senior center Matt Nelson has a career average of 20.2 points against SDSU. The Aztecs – 3-21 all-time in Fort Collins – beat CSU 84-77 on Jan. 24. SDSU concludes the trip at Wyoming on an ESPN "Big Monday" telecast.

Outlook: USD's three-game winning streak ended Thursday at Gonzaga, 90-73. That same night Portland lost its second straight, falling to San Francisco 58-56 on a three-pointer by Tyrone Riley with 20 seconds to play . . . The road loss set USD's record away from the Jenny Craig Pavilion at 3-9 overall and 1-5 in WCC play. Portland's home defeat made the Pilots 8-3 at the 5,000-seat Chiles Center overall and 3-2 in WCC play . . . Portland's top player is junior guard Pooh Jeter, who entered the week with a 15.8 ppg average (eighth-best in the league) and scored 14 against San Francisco. The Pilots are second in the WCC in field goal percentage defense (.416) and three-point field goal defense (.317) and face a USD team second in the league in field goal percentage and first in three-point shooting . . . USD shot 57 percent overall and 52.6 from three-point range in routing Portland 92-58 on Jan. 20 in San Diego . . .
