Patrick Henry's Sal Zizzo and Mt. Carmel's Tony Ortega have been named to the National Soccer Association of America/adidas high school boys All-Far West Region team.

Zizzo, a forward bound for UCLA, and Ortega, a defender who will continue his career at USD, are two of 13 California players on the 21-member team.

Home run derby

The fifth annual Duke Snider Home Run Derby will be tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Fallbrook High.

Individual and team winners will have prize money given to their high school booster club or ASB. The North County Boys & Girls Club is the derby's corporate sponsor.

Participants must pay a $25 entry fee.

Previous winners were Joey Metropoulos, Jose Hernandez, Brant Rustich and Matt Bush.

South Bay soccer

With its 6-1 win over Castle Park, Marian Catholic clinched a share of the South Bay League girls soccer title with defending champ Hilltop. It had earlier been reported Marian won the title outright. The pair now advance to the postseason, with the Crusaders vying for a Division IV seed and the Lancers looking for a Division II berth.
